Students who appeared for the GPAT exam for the 2024 session generally found the exam to be quite easy, with many describing it as the easiest in the history of the test. A notable number of questions were one-liners that did not require extensive calculation or analysis.

Pharmacology:

The Pharmacology section was of moderate difficulty level. Indirect questions were asked in the paper. “Candidates who have revised the concepts thoroughly would have found it of moderate level.”

Pharmaceutics:

The Pharmaceutics section was also of moderate difficulty level. Just like the Pharmacology section, easy questions were asked from this section too. As per an expert, "Pharmaceutics section was the easiest one.”

Pharmaceutical Chemistry:

As per an expert, “tricky questions were asked from the Pharmaceutical chemistry section. This section was difficult compared to other sections of the question paper.”

Pharmacognosy:

Pharmacognosy section was again of moderate difficulty level. “As the chapters from this section are of less weightage in the GPAT syllabus, the questions might have been tricky for some students”.

Other subjects:

"Unlike previous year trends, the pattern of questions was different yet easy. In previous years, questions were asked from Microbiology, while this year, no question was asked."

Student reactions on GPAT 2022 exam analysis

Candidates who appeard in GPAT 2022 test said that the entrance test of M.Pharm was of moderate difficulty level. Many candidates defined Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics as the easiest ones in the GPAT exam. One of the GPAT test takers said, “The GPAT question paper was of moderate to difficult level. Questions from the Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics sections were while all other sections were a little tricky.

Though the difficulty level of the exam was moderate, the questions were conceptual too. "Overall the GPAT exam was moderate. 30-35 questions were easy while some were conceptual,” said a GPAT aspirant. According to another candidate, "GPAT 2022 was easy for me. The questions from the Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology sections were easy. Although the language of the questions was tweaked to puzzle the students."

Subject-wise GPAT exam analysis 2021

Pharmacology:

The difficulty level of Pharmacology was of moderate level. "If the candidates would have done their self-study properly and have revised the Ecology topics, then it was moderate for them. Indirect questions were asked."

Pharmaceutics:

Like Pharmacology, questions in the Pharmaceutics section of GPAT was easy or tough. "The easiest section was Pharmaceutics. First, Pharmaceutics, then Pharmacology followed by Pharmaceutical Chemistry and lastly the Pharmacognition."

Pharmaceutical Chemistry:

"If an aspirant would have studied the Chemistry section carefully, then it was average."

Pharmacognition:

"Some of the topics in the GPAT syllabus contain less weightage, and Pharmacognition had questions from that section, which was tricky for candidates. Though such sections are the easiest one, aspirants and coaching centres avoid them because of less weightage."

Other subjects:

"Unlike previous year trends, the pattern of questions was different yet easy. In previous years, questions were asked from Microbiology, while this year, no question was asked."

GPAT exam analysis 2020

As per the GPAT 2020 exam analysis, though there were technical questions in the exam, the overall difficulty level was easy. According to GPAT test takers, three hours were enough to complete the GPAT exam. Questions on sections such as Celtics, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence, Cognosy, Medicinal Chemistry, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, Cology, and Pharmaceutical Management were asked in the M.Pharm entrance exam.

Subject-wise GPAT exam analysis 2020

Pharmaceutics:

The Pharmaceutics section of the GPAT exam was easy. A total of 20 questions were asked of which 12 to 14 questions were easy to answer. No set-based questions were asked in the Pharmaceutics section of the GPAT exam.

Pharmacognosy:

Direct questions of moderate difficulty were asked Pharmacognosy section of the GPAT exam. As per the GPAT exam analysis, there were 18 to 20 questions in the Pharmacognosy section.

Pharmaceutical analysis:

Overall, simple questions were asked in the Pharmaceutical analysis section. 3 questions were asked based on the Statement/Conclusion format. No set-based questions were asked.

Pharmacology:

As per GPAT exam analysis, the Pharmacology section had questions on topics such as Pharmacology of Central Nervous System, Pharmacology of Cardiovascular System, Pathophysiology of normal ailments, Endocrine System, Chemotherapy, Principles of Toxicology, Basic Concepts of Pharmacotherapy, Important Disorders of Organs, Systems and their Management, CNS Disorders, and Drug Class.

Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence/Pharmaceutical Management/Microbiology: Simple yet concept based questions were asked in this section. There were 7 to 10 questions. Like other sections, no set-based questions were asked in this section too.

What after the GPAT 2026 exam analysis?

After the GPAT exam analysis 2026, the authority releases the answer key. The GPAT answer key is released at the official website: gpat.nta.nic.in. At first, the provisional GPAT 2026 answer key is published by the authorities, followed by the final answer key. To check the answer key of GPAT 2026, candidates have to log in using their application number and password/DoB. Students are allowed to challenge the provisional GPAT answer key by paying the required fee. Once the challenges are handled, NBE publishes the final GPAT answer key 2026 in a PDF format. GPAT results are prepared based on the final answer key.

GPAT scores are definitely considered for admission to MPharm courses, including in Government College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru. In fact, GPAT is the main qualifying exam for most government colleges because GPAT-qualified candidates are given preference in seats, scholarships and stipends.

As for the minimum score, there is no fixed cutoff that remains the same every year. It changes depending on the number of applicants, seat availability and category. But based on previous admission trends, students getting into Government College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru usually have GPAT scores that fall close to or above the GPAT qualifying marks. For general category, the safe score is usually somewhere around 140 to 160 or higher, but in some years competition increases and even higher scores are seen. For OBC and other reserved categories, the safe score is slightly lower, but still close to the qualifying range.

If your GPAT score is comfortably above the qualifying cutoff for your category, your chances improve. However, final admissions depend on rank, counselling rounds and seat matrix for that year. In short, yes, GPAT is required, and aiming for a score well above the qualifying marks gives you a better chance of getting a PG seat in this college.

GPAT is the main national-level entrance exam for admission into M-Pharmacy programs in many colleges.
Most government colleges, top private universities, and NIPERs consider your GPAT score during admission.
If you qualify for GPAT, you are also eligible for AICTE M-Pharm scholarships.
Some private colleges may take direct admission, but GPAT students get first preference.
So yes, having a GPAT score increases your chances of getting a good M-Pharm seat. It helps you academically as well as financially.
