KIET School of Pharmacy, KIET Group of Institutions inaugurated a 5-day Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Paradigm Shift in Pharmaceutical Sciences: From Bench to Bedside and Beyond today, running from July 22 to July 26, 2024. This FDP sponsored by AKTU Lucknow, aims to explore the transformative journey of pharmaceutical sciences from laboratory research to clinical application, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and advancing faculty capabilities in teaching and research methodologies.

The inaugural session began with the welcome of Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Bajaj (Director General, KIET Group of Institutions), Dr. Manoj Goel, Joint Director, Dr. Anil K. Ahlawat, Director-Academics and chief guest Prof. (Dr.) B. N. Sinha (Dean Academic Affairs, Amity University, Ranchi & Kolkata) & Dr. Rakesh Sharma (Founder President, CBRN Warriors, India, Director (Rtd.) DRDO-DFRL, Mysore) by Dr. K. Nagarajan, Principal, KIET School of Pharmacy and Convenor of FDP.

Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Bajaj discussed the challenges and opportunities presented by technological advancements like AI, data science, precision medicine, and wearable devices.
Dr. B.N. Sinha stated that pedagogy and leadership in higher education are pivotal in shaping innovative teaching methodologies, fostering critical thinking, and nurturing future leaders. Effective pedagogical strategies coupled with visionary leadership empower educators to inspire students, drive institutional excellence, and adapt to evolving educational paradigms.

Dr. V. Kalaiselvan, (Senior Principal Scientific Officer, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad) presented his talk on “Materiovigilance -Pharmacists as an Entrepreneur and Service Provider”. In his talk, he quoted insightful perspectives and reminded the importance of pharmacists in identifying, reporting, and preventing adverse drug reactions. The emphasis on pharmacists as entrepreneurs and service providers, coupled with their commitment to patient safety, is indeed the cornerstone of a thriving healthcare system.

Dr. Ajay Sharma (Senior Manager, APCER Life Sciences, Noida, India) presented his talk on “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Pharmaceutical Sciences with Special Emphasis on Pharmacovigilance”. His talk provides knowledge on the role of AI and ML in pharmacovigilance by enabling advanced data analysis for early detection of adverse drug reactions.
Dr N.G. Rao -Additional Head, KIET School of Pharmacy along with the organising team members, Dr Praveen Kumar Dixit, Dr Shardendu Kumar Mishra, Ms Vidhu Saxena, Ms Shikha Kaushik were also present.
