GPAT 2020 - The National Testing Agency (NTA) is the conducting body for Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test- GPAT 2020. NTA has released exam dates for GPAT 2020 wherein the entrance exam for M. Pharm admissions will be conducted on January 24, 2020. The application forms for GPAT 2020 will be released on November 1, which the eligible candidates have to fill for appearing in the entrance examination before November 30, 2019. Candidates will be required to upload certain documents and pay the requisite fee. GPAT 2020, a national level entrance examination, is going to be conducted for admission to Master in Pharmacy (M. Pharm) or equivalent programmes. Admit cards for the exam will be released online on December 24, 2019 and the result is scheduled to be declared on February 3, 2020. More than 800 participating institutes and all AICTE approved institutes and universities will accept GPAT 2020 score. Till 2018, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) used to conduct the GPAT exam, but since 2019, NTA took over the charge for conducting GPAT examination. 42827 candidates were registered in 2019 session, out of which, 40649 candidates appeared and a total of 4119 candidates qualified in GPAT 2019. Eligibility Criteria of GPAT 2020

The criteria of eligibility for GPAT 2020 is the minimum requisite that a candidate should fulfill in order to appear for GPAT 2020. The main points to be noted for GPAT 2020 eligibility are:

  • 4 year course in Pharmacy after 10+2 from a recognized university
  • Final year students of B.Pharm are also eligible to apply, provided that their result should be declared before admission to 2020-2021 session commences.
Who is not Qualified

Candidates with a degree in B.Tech (Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical Technology) are not to be considered eligible.


It may be noted that eligibility is to be ensured by the candidate only because NTA will carry forward the application process and the examination based on performing the formalities before last date. So, if a candidate not eligible as per above-mentioned requirements fills the application form and pays the requisite fee, he/ she can appear for GPAT. This does not at all ensure the minimum requisites for admission to academic year 2020-2021.

GPAT 2020 Registration

Candidates of GPAT 2020 will be able to apply in online mode only. The registrations for GPAT 2020 shall commence on November 1, 2019. Candidates will be required to fill the same and pay the requisite fee before last date, i.e. November 30 as specified by the authorities. Only one application form will be allowed for a candidate as multiple applications by a single candidate are supposed to be rejected.

How to Apply for GPAT 2020:

  1. Registration: Registration for GPAT 2020 will require the candidate to provide basic details like name, father's name, etc. Application number will be generated that has to be noted.
  2. Application: This step includes filling the online application form with important personal details like candidate's nationality, category, etc.
  3. Uploading Documents: Candidates will be required to upload a clear scanned photograph (size between 10-200 kb) and signature (size between 4–30 kb) in the application form. This has to be done carefully because changes to these two will not be allowed at any further stage.
  4. Payment of Fee: Candidates will be required to pay GPAT 2020 application fee through online mode. Payment can be made with Debit/ Credit Card/ Net Banking/ e-Challan.
  5. Download Confirmation Page: A confirmation page will appear after completion of payment. Candidate should download this GPAT 2020 confirmation page for future reference.

GPAT Admit Card 2020

NTA will release the admit card for GPAT 2020 in online mode on December 24, 2019. Those candidates whose applications get accepted will be able to download their admit card and appear for GPAT 2020. The admit card contains important details like examination centre, date and time of exam and the important instructions for exam day. Candidates will be required to carry this admit card with them in the examination hall, without which, entry will not be allowed.

How to download GPAT 2020 admit card?

  • Visit the official website of NTA at ntagpat.nic.in
  • Click on “Download GPAT 2020 admit card”
  • Candidates will get the option to download admit card through application number and password or date of birth,
  • Choose any of the two options as per convenience and then click on ‘Sign in’
  • Candidate’s GPAT 2020 admit card will be displayed on the screen
  • Download and print 2-3 good quality copies of this admit card

GPAT Exam Pattern 2020

GPAT 2020 Exam Pattern provides for the details regarding examination which a candidate should be known of in order to prepare well. GPAT 2020 will be a computer-based online examination with multiple choice questions, conducted in a single session of three hours. The exam contains questions based on multiple subjects that include physical chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacology, biotechnology, etc. Candidates will be allowed to carry nothing except the GPAT admit card in the examination hall.

GPAT 2020 Preparation Tips

Candidates who are planning to appear for GPAT 2020 have the most crucial task to do, preparation for the exam. GPAT Answer Key 2020

After conduct of GPAT 2020 examination, answer key and recorded candidate responses are shared on the official website of NTA which is open for challenge within a specified period. The candidates of GPAT 2020 will be able to have a better idea of their performance in the exam and the expected result. Those who are not satisfied with the answers displayed in the answer key will have the option to challenge through online application form. Processing fee for making challenges is Rs 1000 per question. The fee charged for challenging the answer key will be refunded only in case challenge comes out to be correct. No further challenges will be made against the answer key once the result is declared.

How to calculate GPAT 2019 score?

After comparing answers with the help of GPAT 2020 answer key, candidates should know how to estimate a rough figure of their score. Follow the steps below to know how to calculate your probable GPAT score 2020:

  • Use the official marking scheme of GPAT 2020 to calculate the score. According to the GPAT 2020 marking scheme, candidates will be rewarded 4 marks for every correct answer while every incorrect response will deduct one mark.

  • GPAT 2020 score = (4 x Number of correct responses) - (1 x Number of incorrect responses)

GPAT Result 2020

The GPAT 2020 result will be declared in online mode following the answer key on February 3, 2020. Candidates will have to use their login credentials (application number and password or date of birth) for accessing their GPAT result. They will be able to check their rank, qualifying status and score obtained out of maximum marks. This score is accepted at all AICTE approved colleges, institutes and universities. The result will be followed by the final answer key and GPAT 2020 merit list. In 2019, the GPAT exam was conducted on January 28 and result was declared on February 8, 2019. A total of 40649 candidates had appeared and 4119 candidates qualified the examination. Topper for the 2019 exam was Yawalkar Ankita Nitin who was the only candidate to score 100% marks.

Candidates can follow the steps below for downloading their result:

  • Visit the official website of NTA at nta.nic.in
  • Click on the option of GPAT result 2019
  • Candidate will be required to choose an option to login through providing date of birth or password along with application number.
  • Choose one of the option and then click on 'Sign In'
  • Now click on 'View Result' and the result will show on screen
  • Download and take 2-3 prints of the result.

GPAT Merit List 2020

The GPAT 2020 result will be followed by the final answer key and merit list. All India merit list will mention the order of ranks secured by candidates based on their score in the exam. The GPAT 2020 merit list will mention candidate’s name, roll number, category, score, rank, percentile and qualifying status. In GPAT 2019, the merit list was uploaded on the same day when the result was declared, i.e. February 6, 2019. Total candidates who qualified in GPAT 2019 were 4119 out of 40649 candidates who appeared for the exam. The GPAT ranking depicts that if two candidates score equal marks, they're allotted the same rank and then the next rank is numbered according to the number of previous rank holders skipping the very next rank.

GPAT Cutoff 2020

GPAT 2020 cutoff is the minimum score required for admission to Masters in Pharmacy. Category wise cutoff marks will be released by each participating institute separately. It will be based upon seats available, difficulty level of exam and the number of candidates who appear and pass in GPAT 2020. Appearing candidates will be shortlisted by participating institutes on the basis of cutoff marks only.

GPAT Counselling 2020

The process of GPAT 2020 counselling is conducted by the individual institutes after declaration of result and All India merit list. Qualified candidates have to apply to their desired institute for the same. Then, the eligible candidates are shortlisted and allotted with seats accordingly.

GPAT Participating Institutes 2020

There are more than 800 pharmacy institutes that will accept the GPAT 2020 score. All AICTE approved colleges, institutes and universities accept GPAT score. Candidates should take note that they will have to apply separately for each participating institute after the declaration of result and then these institutes will release their cutoffs. 2019 was the first time that NTA conducted the GPAT examination for admission to M. Pharm courses. GPAT 2019 was conducted on January 28 and the result of the same was declared on February 6, 2019. The GPAT score held a validity of 3 years for admission to M. Pharm and scholarship purposes. This also meant that a candidate who cleared the exam and even completes his/ her M. Pharm, the score will still be acceptable for admission to Ph. D degree. The topper for GPAT 2019 was Ms. Yawalkar Ankita Nitin who scored a perfect 100 %. Last year the Cutoffs for General was around 118

GPAT is a national level entrance exam which is held for Pharmacy graduates so that they can get admission to M.Pharmacy program. It is conducted once in a year.


AICTE Conducts this exam that is AICTE is the conducting body of GPAT exam.

It is a three hour duration computer based test.

To apply for this exam one has to fulfill few eligibility criteria which are as follows-


A student must have Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2, including lateral entry candidates).

Students who are in the final year of B.Pharmacy are also eligible to appear in GPAT.

Note- Applicant must be a citizen of India.

yes you can apply for gpat exam which is the gate way of m.pharma course in top institute in india. however during the m.pharma admission process you need to show your clear mark sheets and if that time you have any current  back logs you cannot take admission. if you clear the back log before admission process , then it will be fine.
