Placement Analysis: Graduates At Top Pharma Colleges In India Opt For Higher Studies

Under the pharmacy category, National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) evaluated 435 colleges within the pharmacy category in their latest report. The list included colleges that offer a four-year undergraduate (UG) programme, a two-year postgraduate (PG)programme, or both in pharmacy.

In this analysis however, Careers360 has considered top 10 colleges with a four-year UG programme in pharmacy. National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research located in Hyderabad, Mohali, Guwahati, Ahmedabad and Raebareli have been left out as these institutes only provide a two-year PG programme in pharmacy.

Our analysis studies the percentage of student graduates, their placement status, and the number of students pursuing higher education. This article will investigate the said parameters over the last four years. We have also analysed the percentage of enrolled students from the same state, different states or from different countries studying in the pharmaceutical institutes.

The result of our analysis shows that students are focusing on acquiring higher education after their graduation rather than taking employment. The participation of female students in the programme is highly commendable.

Graduated With Higher Numbers

The average percentage of students graduating in 2021-22 has just increased by 0.20 percentage points since 2020-21. Percentage points here refer to the difference between percentage values. The growth in the percentage of students was much higher in previous years.

College Placement

Pharmacy graduates prioritise receiving higher education over getting placed. On average 43.98 graduated students were placed in 2021-22. This however is higher than the average placement of 38.35 percent the previous year.

Panjab University which had zero placements in the last two years placed four per cent of its graduates in 2021-22. This marks the lowest placement rate among the top 10 colleges for students.

Students Opting For Higher Education

On an average, 51 per cent of graduated students went for higher studies in 2021-22. This is however less than 55.75 per cent of graduating students who opted for higher studies in 2020-21. Since only four per cent of graduates of Panjab University were placed, the rest 96 per cent went for higher studies in 2021-22.

SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies has the least number of students opting for higher studies among the top 10 colleges as per the NIRF ranking.
